Jefferson pushes financial options to avert CTA service cuts and layoffs
Every October in recent years Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) makes a public announcement that it faces another “doomsday” financial situation, said Darrell Jefferson, President of the Amalgamated Transit Union – Local 241, Tuesday, at a news conference where he blasted CTA management as being “top heavy” and should be reduced.

100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. Hosts
7th Annual Scholarship Fair
As many as 6,000 students and parents are expected to attend the 7th Annual 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc.’s College Scholarship Fair presented by State Farm on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd. To date, over $5 million in scholarships have been awarded.

Harvey Park District Board Approves
$1 million bond to bolster parks system
Several years of financial mismanagement and corruption have left the Harvey parks nearly broke. However, a newly reorganized Harvey Park District Board approved a $1 million bond last week to help stabilize parks’ operations and pay for much needed repairs and infrastructure upgrades.

With a new website, business cards and door hangers, the company launched a summer marketing campaign. The site features testimonials and photographs of completed work — must-haves in the home remodeling business.
First Trace Comunications designed an almuni outreach program to connect Malcolm X College graduates with existing students. The program, which included a training component and events, will serve to enhance contacts, mentoring and job opportunities for new grads, adding another layout of value to the Malcolm X learning experience.
